MASTERS
At VRC  rowers over 27 are thrown to the sharks in the Masters Program. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday from 6 PM until 7:30 as daylight permits and 8 am until 10 am on Saturdays. This is a great program for the competitive rower of all levels. Focuses include proper racing techniques and visualisations, with an emphasis on technique. Our Masters coaches have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with you.

Michael Conway - Competitive Master's Coach
Michael's background is as a competitive coxswain and as a 5 time National Team member between 1970 and 1980.  He has represented VRC at all levels from High School to Olympic Games. He is a Level III coach; has coached at University and Club level and as Assistant Senior B National Team coach in 1982.

Since Michael came to VRC, we have greatly increased the participation and success of the program. Highlights include sending crews to the Canadian Henley (where they row Open), Head of the Charles, FISA Masters, Pacific NorthWest Masters and wins at the Head of the Gorge in Victoria.

His philosophy is to help the athlete realise their competitive objectives within the setting (and limitations) offered by VRC. TO ENJOY (ie: have fun) the sport, to respect their competitors and feel a part of the rich history of rowing at VRC.

Practice days and times are:
Spring/Summer/Fall - Tues/Thurs - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Saturday - 8:00am to 10:00am
Winter - Saturday - 8:00am to 10:00am

Many athletes will also do extra practices at other times, both on the water and on land.
